London FI Dec Online Meetup: FIRE for Families
8th December 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

The FIRE movement is sometimes accused of not being representative of a large part of the world’s population. In fact if you browse a selection of personal finance blogs, you might come away thinking that FIRE is only achievable for millennial software developers, usually white, male and single.
Yet our own FIRE community is very diverse, with members of all ages, nationalities, backgrounds and personal circumstances. And if you look around, you’ll find many examples of excellent blogs and podcasts by FIRE fans who don’t fit that particular stereotype.
With that in mind, our December meetup is dedicated to a group within the FI community that doesn’t get enough attention: parents!
So whether you already have children or are planning ahead (or just want to join the discussion), please come along to talk about:
* How children affect your FI journey
* The cost of kids – and how to cut expenses
* How to raise financially-savvy kids
* Tax benefits & financial incentives e.g. Junior ISAs
The meetup will be co-hosted by one of our long-standing members (and new dad) Guy Diamant, and joined by a panel of parents who will share their experiences. As usual, the meetup will follow an informal structure, with plenty of time for Q&A, interaction and breakout sessions.
You can also join in the discussion on our facebook group at http://bit.ly/londonFI-FB.
LOGISTICS:
This is a live, interactive session, so please enable your webcam and microphone and be prepared to participate as much as possible: we’re all here to learn from each other 🙂
The meeting room will be open 5-10 minutes before the scheduled start time – the URL is available when you RSVP to the event.
If you’re asked for a password in Zoom, type “FIRE”.
NB: If you can’t find the link, please message us at least ONE HOUR before the event is due to start.
