London FI Sep Online Meetup: Geographic Arbitrage
9th September 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
One of the side-effects of lockdown has been the freedom for many of us to work, not just from home, but wherever we want to – sometimes anywhere in the world. Bermuda and Barbados are just 2 of the destinations that recently launched special visa programs for remote workers, while countries like Portugal have been offering these incentives for years.
Since we hosted our last meetup from Italy, we’re staying on the topic of travel, and in particular, how you can use ‘geographic arbitrage’ to accelerate your path to FI.
In essence, geographic arbitrage is about living in an area where costs are low, while earning money at a higher rate. For example, earning a London salary but living outside the city. Or working remotely from a beach hut in Thailand…
Although moving abroad might not be something that you’ve considered before, it could mean reaching FI years earlier. So if you’re interested in talking about…
… different types of geographic arbitrage
… the best destinations for low cost living
… practical tips for making the move
… the pros and cons of a nomadic life,
then join us on Zoom!
Want to post questions or comments about the topic? Find us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/londonfi/
This is a live, interactive session: please enable your webcam and microphone and be prepared to introduce yourself briefly to the group. Stay as long as you want, bring drinks and snacks; friends, family (and pets) are welcome!
The meeting room will be open +/- 5 minutes beforehand – the URL is available when you RSVP to the event. If you don’t see the link, please message us at least one hour before the event.
You can join via PC or mobile device, but it’ll be easier to see the slides as well as your fellow attendees on a larger screen. There’s no need to download any software – you can join directly from your browser.
