FIREhub Is Two!

Wow, another year has gone by and our little community project is already two years old! It’s been another amazing and eventful year here at FIREhub central.

Meetups!

Back in May the whole FIREhub organisational team was reunited in Budapest at FIWE 2019, where we also recruited a new member to manage our Events section.

In July we ran FIWE Family at Lake Balaton in Hungary where many adults and many, many kids hung out together at the lake talking about life, the universe and everything in a chilled atmosphere.

We’re also gearing up for FIRE in Madrid in a couple of weeks where we’re looking forward to meeting even more bloggers and also some “normal” people!

New Features on FIREhub

We’ve also been busy restructuring parts of the site and adding some new features. In February we launched our Bloggers on FIRE interview series as a result of the competition we ran to celebrate our first birthday. We’re having a lot of fun running the series and we’ve just published our 29th interview. We hope you’ve enjoyed finding out more about the bloggers behind the blogs we feature.

Introducing Europeans on FIRE

Following the success of Bloggers on FIRE, we’ve decided to launch a new series in which we interview “normal” people from the European FI community, that is, people who don’t have blogs. In our community there’s a lot of focus on blogs and bloggers. But we think it’s important to hear what the non-bloggers have to say as well.

We’ll be publishing our very first Europeans on FIRE interview next week, and from now on we’ll be alternating between Bloggers on FIRE and Europeans on FIRE interviews each week. If you’d like to be interviewed, just drop us a quick e-mail at hello(at)firehub(dot)eu and we’ll send you all the details!

Take Part in Our Birthday Competition!

Following the success of last year’s competition, and continuing on the theme of building the FI community here in Europe, we’re excited to announce this year’s birthday competition!

This year you have two options:

  1. Tell us about an FI event we’ve missed from our calendar using the Suggest an Event form. (Extra points if you organise an event specially because of the competition.) Make sure you fill in your e-mail address correctly, so we can contact you in case you win!
  2. E-mail us at hello(at)firehub(dot)eu and tell us about what the European FI community means to you. What do you like about it? How has it helped you? What do you think could be improved? Is there anything we can do to help?

There will be one winner in each category. We’ll pick one entrant at random from among those who suggest an event, and we’ll choose the most interesting entry about the FI community. Each winner will receive an FI book of their choice.

The closing date for entries is October 31st, and we’ll announce the winners on November 7th. Good luck everyone!

Thank You!

Once again, we’d like to thank our curators, our country ambassadors, and all of you who’ve shown your support for our site by subscribing to our weekly digest, following us via RSS, joining our facebook group, and following us on twitter. The positive feedback we get from you guys is amazing and humbling and makes all our hard work worthwhile. Here’s to another fun-filled year in the European FI community!
